While most Quebecers wish to see it end quickly, the storms keep piling up, leaving us with a wonderful white landscape to admire. These conditions can promote the occurrence of thermal breakage.\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n<br><br>\r\n<strong>DEFINITION<\/strong>\r\n<br><br>\r\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lajeunesse.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/03\/Unknown.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"250px\" \/>\r\n<br><br>\r\nLike all materials, glass expands or contracts when subjected to temperature variations. When glass is heated, the expansion caused by the heat is greater at the center than at the edges. This difference in expansion creates stress on the glass. Sometimes, this phenomenon causes a break on the inner pane. This is known as thermal breakage. \r\n<br><br>\r\nThe origin of the crack is located at the edge of the glazing (in the coldest zone) and the fracture plane is perpendicular (90\u00ba) to the edge of the glazing.\r\n<br><br>\r\n<strong>PREVENTION<\/strong>\r\n<br><br>\r\nTo reduce the risk of thermal breakage, follow these tips:\r\n<br><br>\r\nMinimal space: Provide a minimum space of 40 mm between the glazing and the blinds or curtains.\r\n<br><br>\r\nAir circulation: Always maintain good air circulation near the glazing.\r\n<br><br>\r\nLajeunesse offers the following warranties on thermal breakage:\r\n<br><br>\r\n<strong>St-LaurentCollection <\/strong> : Thermos 1 year \/ labor 2 years\r\n<br><br>\r\n<strong>D\u2019Autray Collection <\/strong>: Thermos 10 years \/ labor 5 years\r\n<br><br>\r\nThermal breakage remains relatively rare.
